Understanding a Lonely Dog

At times, when having a dog at home and being busy, your dog can get lonely. It’s not the best thought in the world that you have a pet at home who does feel this way, but at times it’s a reality.

Tips To Help Your Lonely Dog Feel Better

There are some things that you can do that will help your lonely dog not feel so alone.

1. Sleep in the Same Room as Your Dog

Don’t keep them away all day when you are gone then close them off all night. Sometimes having the ability to come near you in the same room while sleeping, your dog will feel more of a connection.

2. Spend Time With Your Dog When You’re Home

Be sure to touch and play with your dog so that he or she feels like you want to give attention. This is very important if you are gone all day long.

3. Get Nicer or More Entertaining Toys

This will give your dog something to do during the day so that being lonely doesn’t lead to becoming bored.

4. Consider Getting a Second Dog

Many times, having a second pet around will make a huge difference in the social life of your dog. Both of these dogs can play with each other all day, taking away the problem of being all alone.

5. Exercise Your Dog Regularly

The more of this the dog gets, the happier the dog is going to be. Additionally, this can tire out the dog to sleep some while you are gone, to not have as many hours alone.

6. Take Your Dog With You on Errands

Even if you have to leave the dog in the car, be sure that your dog is there with you.

7. Leave the Radio On

This ensures that your dog hears something during the day and is known to help.

8. Rehome If You Cannot Meet Social Needs

Give the dog away if you feel you can’t provide for his or her social needs. While this is hard, it can also be best.
